Questions and Answers

frequently asked

Yes, Alex is completely confident and trained in bridal hairstyling as well as makeup. However, depending on what time you plan to be married and how big your bridal party is, she may need to bring along an expert assistant to help get through everyone in time. This comes at an extra cost of $200.

Do you do both Hair And Makeup?

Yes! Alex can travel to wherever your wedding may be. Travel fees are $75 p/hr. She is also happy to travel outside of Sydney and overseas.

Do you travel?

Wash your hair the night before. Use two shampoos to the one conditioner, but do not use any products that have a silicone base to it. (e.g. Pantene, Palmolive, Tresemme, Sunsilk) These will make the hair too slippery and it will not hold style well.

Do not use any products in the hair, e.g. Serums, smoothing creams, argon/morroccon oil etc.

Blow dry your hair as smooth as possible DO NOT using a straightening iron. If you do not feel comfortable blow drying your own hair, speak with Alex who may have time to blow dry it for you on the day (extra $100) or you may want to go to your local salon and have it professionally blowdried.

On the day wear a loose cotton button up shirt or cotton robe so your hairstyle is not affected when you change into your dress!

How should I prep my hair before my wedding day?

If you want to treat yourself, Alex recommends you go for an exfoliating facial at least 1 week before your wedding day. You can lightly exfoliate and apply a hydrating moisturiser the night before. In the morning, gently wash your face with a gentle face wash and warm water and you can apply a light moisturiser. Avoid any products that contain sunscreen as this can cause “flashback” (a white face) with any flash photography. If you don't have anything you think is suitable, do not apply anything and Alex will moisturise, prep and prime your skin for you before applying your makeup. Any facial waxing/tweezing should be done over a week before the wedding day as this can sometimes cause breakouts.

How should I prep my skin before my wedding day?

To ensure your big day flows easily, a trial is highly recommended. Alex will discuss in person different makeup looks and hairstyles, decide on a look you love and then recreate it on you! She will take photos and a written record of makeup used. Usually only the bride decides to have a trial but sometimes mums, bridesmaids or friends want one at the same time. It is entirely up to you! You may like to do your trial on the same day as another event you have on so you can utilise your beautiful look. A trial is $300.00 and held at Alex’s home studio. There is also an option for Alex to come to you for your trial - Additional costs and travel fees may apply.

Should I have a trial?

Alex is well known for her fun, relaxed and well timed mornings. Alex will most always complete the Bridal Hair and Makeup look, which is estimated around 2 hours (Depending on hairstyle) Then allow 45 mins per person for makeup and 45 mins per person for hair. This can again depend on the hairstyle chosen. Also allow time for touch-ups at the end (Around half an hour) It is always recommended that hair and makeup is completed at least 1 hour before you need to leave for the ceremony. This is a basic guide, as Alex will personally talk with you to organise a schedule for your morning so it runs smoothly and everyone has a lot of fun!
